Fossil Fish
Jurassic, Callovian, Lower Oxford Clay
Peterbourough, U.K
This specimen came to me via an old U.K collection and is a partial fish, probably a Pholidophorus or leptolepis of some description. Fish fossils in the Jurassic are incredibly rare and i have never had or seen a small teleost outside of of a museum. The specimen is the rear end of the animal and was found in two sections. There are fragmentary Ammonite sections belonging to Kosmoceras on the front and the rear. An expert on Ammonites may be able to tell the difference so that the exact zone and subzone could be determined.
