Pliosaur
Cretaceous, Upper Albian
Seversk sandstone, Stary-Oskol, Belgorod, Kursk, Russia
This is a small complete Tooth from this rare location. Specimens from here are rarely seen and this comes from my personal collection. The root and crown are in very good condition. The late Opthalmosaurus had
rectangular roots but toward the end of the Rostrum they became cylindrical. The root
structure on this particular tooth is hollow and more akin to Pliosaur and yet the striations are not what i would expect from this animal, therefore i am stumped as to clear identification. But my inclination based on the shape is Pliosaur
This deposit has not been described so i am leaving the determination of this tooth open at this stage
The specimen measures 33mm
